Mastodon Album... Trailer?

posted by High Voltage Staff | Wednesday, July 13, 2011 | 12:40 PM
We're all used to movies making trailers to entice us to the theaters on opening weekend, but an album trailer? I wouldn't even think that would work, typically speaking. However the visual treat Mastodon provides in their trailer for upcoming album, The Hunter, featuring a new track entitled "Black Tongue" is up to par with their live shows, branding and other hi-jinx. So for your viewing pleasure...

The PreZcotts cover Metallica

posted by High Voltage Staff | Tuesday, March 15, 2011 | 1:09 AM
They are some songs you just don't cover unless you can do it justice, I would file "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica in that category. And well, The PreZcotts (aged 11, 13, 14 & 16) own their cover of "Nothing Else Matters" not to mention the 10 year old guitarist, Yuto Miyasawa, who shreds the guitar solo. Check this video out:

Band of the Day: Viva City

posted by High Voltage Staff | Monday, March 29, 2010 | 6:37 PM
Have you heard Viva City yet? An UK electronic-rock band that will blow your mind. Currently we only have their 2010 music sampler with six tracks, but those six tracks provide a dance party you can't resist. They played our HIGH VOLTAGE event last night at The Viper Room and if their recorded music wasn't enough, their live show took the band to a whole new level in our eyes. With a high energy stage presence, glam rock style and electronic flare it's possible this band might be music's best kept secret at the moment. However, that won't last long... SPREAD THE WORD - VIVA CITY ROCKS!

Ronson Just Does It

posted by High Voltage Staff | Thursday, February 7, 2008 | 10:35 PM
Mark Ronson covers Radiohead's "Just" while using Alex Greenwald from Phantom Planet's voice box (and wicked camera stare downs). Makes you wanna boogie a little bit.

Delicious.

Mark is a busy man. He's also revamped The Smiths' "Stop Me If You Think You’ve Heard This One Before" with a dash of Motown featuring Daniel Merriweather. Bold move, friend. Bold.

Excellently executed.

The Kills are bringing it back — all the way back to 1965. Their new video for single "U R A Fever" is like the Mod Squad on LSD and it doesn't get much better than that!

Ludo - Love Me Dead

posted by CHELSEA | Tuesday, January 29, 2008 | 2:39 PM
Recently the world of music videos has seen tons of artists turning their song into a short movie. Think of Panic! At The Disco and The Killers latest videos. However, when was the last time you watched a lead singer perform in his own video like he's in Broadway musical? Singer, Andrew Volpe, of the band Ludo definitely hits that note in their one-shot video for "Love Me Dead" that features several fascinating escapades in the background. It could be the best music video I've seen since OK Go hit those treadmills. Check it out!
